You’ll discover magical places eatilled with a rich history in enchanting sceneries. You’ll learn the main facts and see the highlights of Quebec City’s historical center. Like the famous Place royale, Château Frontenac, City Hall and cathedrals (Catholic and Anglicane). Because this tour is seasonal, provided during winter only, we’ll focus on the influence of the cold season on historical events, local culture and architecture.
The Winter Walking Tour stands outside, in the quaint streets of Old Port & Petit Champlain (Lower Town) and Old Quebec (Upper Town), but we’ll make warm breaks inside buildings.
To tease you, here are some winter topics : Bonhomme Carnaval and the biggest winter carnaval of the world, impact of the ice bridge on the economy, ice canoeing, siege of 1775 with Benedict Arnold…
Important notice :
- The Musée de la Civilisation don’t sell any tickets for the Winter Walking Tour, they only greet us to meet each other and start.
- Please wear warm clothes, warm socks, warm shoes. Even if we do warm breaks, we’ll spend most of the time outside. Winter here is very cold and windy. Ski suits are useful and you should consider something warm like this.
How to get there ?
The Musée de la Civilisation has two entrances: one on Dalhousie Street and the other one on Saint-Pierre Street. The meeting location is inside the museum, nearby the boutique and Saint-Pierre entrance.
We really enjoyed our tour today. Xavier was very knowledgeable and friendly. We learned a lot about the local history & architecture.
By Martha (Ontario) on Airbnb (2019)Our tour with Xavier was really informative and interesting! Our group was small and Xavier was really approachable and interactive and explained many things we never would have thought to ask. He also gave great recommendations!! Merci beaucoup!!
By Shannon (New York) on Airbnb (2019)Very knowledgeable individual with great perspective on the history of Quebec and Quebec City. We only had one day in QC and felt we would have missed out on so much if we had missed this tour. Highly recommended tour!
By Kimberley (Ontario) on Airbnb (2019)The walking tour with Xavier was so informative. It may have been cold but it was so interesting and fun that we did not notice! I would highly recommend this tour.

By Paul (Wisconsin) on Airbnb (2019)We had a wonderful time in the midst of a BLIZZARD! The apartment was SPOTLESS with a full complement of all we needed or expected...PLUS, great dark coffee! You are right in the MIDDLE of Old Towne Quebec and this building is ANCIENT and the entryway is a little rough...but the neighborhood is fine and safe and there is parking very nearbye. We appreciated being left alone to do out thing...and that Xavier left plenty of local flying, etc. around that showed what was where! Nice cafes a block away. Everyone FRIENDLY...got stuck in a snow bank and in MINUTES a half dozen elderly men and women surrounded the vehicle and got us out!!! I want to move to QUEBEC! Thanks for a fun time, Xavier!

Nous étions avec des enfants et même ma fille de 4ans a retenu quelques histoires ! Nous recommandons cette visite sans hésitation !
