Like the famous Place royale, Château Frontenac, City Hall and cathedrals (Catholic and Anglicane). Because this tour is seasonal, provided during winter only, we’ll focus on the influence of the cold season on historical events, local culture and architecture.
The Winter Walking Tour stands outside, in the quaint streets of Old Port & Petit Champlain (Lower Town) and Old Quebec (Upper Town), but we’ll make warm breaks inside buildings.
To tease you, here are some winter topics : Bonhomme Carnaval and the biggest winter carnaval of the world, impact of the ice bridge on the economy, ice canoeing, siege of 1775 with Benedict Arnold…
Important notice :
- The Musée de la Civilisation don’t sell any tickets for the Winter Walking Tour, they only greet us to meet each other and start.
- Please wear warm clothes, warm socks, warm shoes. Even if we do warm breaks, we’ll spend most of the time outside. Winter here is very cold and windy. Ski suits are useful and you should consider something warm like this.
How to get there ?
The Musée de la Civilisation has two entrances: one on Dalhousie Street and the other one on Saint-Pierre Street. The meeting location is inside the museum, nearby the boutique and Saint-Pierre entrance.

By Sophia (Maine) on Airbnb (2019)Not only was Xavier very knowledgeable about the history of Quebec City he made the tour fun and was enthusiastic. He also delayed the start of the tour when we were running late because of traffic. He was great at communicating with us. Thank you!
By Jessica (Georgia, US) on Airbnb (2019)I sometimes wait a little when people warn me they're coming, just few minutes. But that day both bridges were closed for almost 1 hour and this had significantly disrupted the traffic. Faced with this exceptional situation, it was normal that I started late, with the approval of the travelers who were already there.
Gracias Xavier we love your tour

By Jess (Vancouver) on Airbnb (2019)Wonderful tour! Really cold but too interesting to miss! Walking historical streets of Quebec City with a committed guide gives you a impressive perspective of the québécois people!
By Cristina (Porto Alegre, Brazil) on Airbnb (2019)Xavier was very knowledgeable and quite funny, as well. His clothing advice is right on the mark! There were some places I’d visited on my own prior to the tour, but I still ended up learning a lot more from Xavier than I did reading the plaques and description boxes on my initial visit. I would suggest you book this tour on your first day so you get a feel for the city, and you’ll have a better idea of where you want to explore more. Thank you for an awesome tour, Xavier! We took your recommendation for the chocolate store and ran into most of the tour group there, too!
